NYC Calculus Tutoring

Former chemical engineer turned full-time private tutor Brian Ricks is excited to offer calculus tutoring for high school and college students across NYC. Call (619) 880-0133 to learn more or schedule your first session.

Calculus classes are known for being tough, and they can be even harder if you need a bit of extra help. Busy professors and teachers can be difficult to pin down. Teaching assistants are often overworked, and they may lack the teaching skills to help you in the way that you need. You have other courses, conflicting obligations, and possibly a job, and you don’t have time to run around looking for assistance.

Why You Should Choose A Private Calculus Tutor

Private tutoring may be the best solution for you. You don’t need to be a math guru to do well in calculus. You just need a tutor who can present the material in a way that makes sense to you. Whether you are taking high school or college calculus, trying to get AP credit, or preparing for the SAT, private tutoring is a smart solution.

Brian Hiking

I am a chemical engineer in the tech sector, with more than 10 years of experience. I started tutoring when I was in high school, and I left engineering three years ago to become a full-time tutor. I have always been passionate about calculus and other math and science subjects, and I found that tutoring others helped me refine my own skills.

After becoming valedictorian of my high school class, I went to Clarkson University as a chemical engineering major. I tutored throughout my college career, and I graduated at the top of my major. I went on to graduate school at Tufts University, serving as a teaching assistant. I also worked as an engineer and scientist, primarily in surface chemistry, clean energy, measurement techniques, and thermal analysis.

After grad school, I relocated to San Diego and continued tutoring while interviewing for engineering jobs. My tutoring practice expanded fast, bringing new students each week. I made the decision to leave engineering in favor of full-time tutoring, and I launched Bricks Tutoring in 2015. After moving to New York in 2018, I relaunched my tutoring company here.

My calculus tutoring can help you learn more in less time, while reducing your stress and boosting your results. You can pass that course, ace that exam, or earn that STEM degree you always wanted. We will work together, blending your hard work with my experience and skills to get you through even the toughest calculus class.
